1. What skills have you developed through this
module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
|
|||||
I have learnt that even if I
don’t like what I have produced, sometimes I just have to go with it so that
I have time for other things and meet deadlines. For example, I didn’t like
the Secret 7” design that I handed in, but I did do a lot of different
variations, both digital and drawn. In the end, I created a design the day
before submission, and even though I still didn’t like it, I had to go with
it. Also, with the Speaking From Experience brief, I wasn’t keen on what I
had produced for it, maybe because I was looking at it for too long, as I had
spent a lot of time on the contents, and when we bound the book, it wasn’t aligned
double sided perfectly which had an impact on the finish, but we just had to
go with it so that we met the deadline, and be happy with it. Also with the
Communication is a virus brief we had to compromise with the idea we had as
it wasn’t feasible, which was upsetting but again, just had to go with it.
|
|||||
2. What approaches to/methods
of design production have you developed and how have they informed your
design development process?
|
|||||
I have experimented a bit
more in this module, with bookbinding, video and screenprinting and now I
know how to do them I would like to do them more in the future, especially
bookbinding. I think I have also done a lot more drawings in this module
development wise, which is helpful as I have actually tried out a lot more
different designs digitally.
|
|||||
3. What strengths can you
identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?
|
|||||
I think my strengths in this
module have been being able to compromise with things, for example working in
a group have to compromise ideas when certain people have very strong ones. Even
in the Speaking From Experience brief working as a pair was very good, but
sometimes had to compromise on things like we wanted to do gold foiling but
we had to compromise and do screenprinting instead (which was the better
option in the end anyway).
|
|||||
4. What weaknesses can you
identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?
|
|||||
Getting stressed when things
I want to do can’t happen (ideas, production etc), or when things don’t look
as good as I wanted them too (secret 7”, speaking from experience content).
|
|||||
5. Identify five things that
you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing
these?
|
|||||
1.
Do tests of bookbinding and printing before the real thing to see how it will
be cropped etc.
2.
Not get too stressed when I don’t like what I’ve done because you can always
improve something and got to stop somewhere.
|
|||||
6.How would you grade
yourself on the following areas:
(please indicate using an
‘x’)
5= excellent, 4 = very good,
3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor

The evaluation of your work
is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a percentage
of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to
complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of
self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the self evaluation
process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
