OUGD502 - A Design Presence: Self Branding Research

I started looking into existing examples of self branding to see what is included and how to make a consistent brand.

I like the use of parallax scroll in this website, it's quite subtle, used in small areas which makes it really effective. I also like the use of grid to show off work.

This is a designer and front end dev in Leeds and his website has information about him as soon as you go on his page and links to all his contact places.

Then the website scrolls down into a few pieces of his work and a link to their casestudy.

I like how these business cards use only ink and it is blue - it is still readable against the cream background and a nice contrast.

I love how consistent the colour scheme is on this branding, and how it is applied to a lot of collateral. You can see it is finished to a high standard because of the black on black finish.

I really want to edge paint my business cards like these to make them stand out more. I could do this by painting the edges with a brush or by sprayprainting them. To get the thickness, I want to stick to business cards together.

I like how simple this branding is, because it still looks like a high end finish, even though it just uses black on white.

I like how the logo is used on this branding - on the middle of the CD, across a bellyband, on the fold of the envelope etc, it isn't just plonked in the middle of everything.

I like the use of stock and colour in this branding as it is quite fresh and stands out. The duotone images and blocks of blue are consistent with each other. I like how the CD case is made from paper, which is what I want to do.

This website shows how work could be arranged in a heavily gridded layout. I think this could be a good way to show work.

This shows how a brand can be arranged to so much likea tag, cup, tape etc. What I like about this brand is how the logo is featured on the inside of the envelope, I think that is a really good idea.

 BROX
I like how this envelope is closed with a sticker, and I want to do that so it has my logo on top of it, so that the viewer knows it is mine from the outside.

This branding also uses stickers across the range which I think works well. I think this would be a good way of using the accent colour across the brand, as I don't want to use it on text.

I like how this range is simple and uses a few different stock colours - white, brown, grey and black, but it still looks consistent.

This isn't self branding, but I like how it is applied to a wide range of collateral. I think it could be good to emboss my own business card holders with my logo.
