I decided to start my cargo website again as I was struggling so much the first time around! I changed the theme to Callisto to see if I found it easier. It only took me a day to make!! I just decided to stop stopping everytime I got frustrated, and just carried on with it. I found it a lot easier and achieved something that I'm quite happy with!
I recreated the navigation so it's the same as the previous attempt which didn't take long as I already knew how I made the last one.
I also decided to make the text central rather than having two columns, so that having centered images for the work would look more consistent.
I didn't like the photo that I had used before, so I started to create new ones for the project thumbnails. These will have the same background colour as the header to make it consistent and professional looking
I started adding in more work. I tried Flick with a purple background but I felt it stood out too much
This is the index list of the projects, and I edited the colours to match my scheme and altered the text decoration to none
This is how it works responsively
I started adding more projects and got used to the interface and the way cargo works
This is the html for the home page I made.
I added more text to my bio and this is how it works on mobile.
I then started adding the project content. The layout is clean, smart and clear. I resized all of the images to fit the max width I set (1600x1200) so it would resize correctly on imacs. I also added a project description as well as created a link to Sarah Heal's work as it was a collaboration.
How it works on large desktop - image still resizes upwards
I then did the same for Secret 7
and for The Primate Project
I added tag captions to the index page so you can filter them
On iPad..
I then made the content for Flick
I changed the css styles for the filter to make it more consistent
Here is what it looks like on desktop
and ipad
This is how the project page looks on tablet
And on desktop
This is how I added all the images and type on the project pages
At the bottom of each project it gives you the links and thumbnails to other projects
I feel like my website is done now, so I decided to link up my domain name to it. This will make it more professional.
I had to change the A records on my hosting website, and now I just need to wait for it to kick in!
